Dental Implants

At Lufkin Family Dental, we want you to have a beautiful, functional smile for improved health and appearance. When you lose teeth, you may feel like you can never have that permanent smile back. With dental implants, you can restore your smile with surgically placed new teeth that look and function like natural teeth.

Dental implants are titanium posts that are surgically placed in the jaw bone. Once the posts heal, a white dental crown is attached to the post to create a new tooth. Implants can be used to replace one or more teeth or for a full mouth reconstruction. When maintained, implants can last the rest of your life and are a permanent solution to missing teeth.

Excellence in Implant Dentistry

Dental implants can be one of the best investments you make into your health and smile. However, it is a complicated process that begins with your first consultation. Our implant dentist will perform a thorough examination and review your medical and dental history. X-rays of your teeth and jaw will be taken to evaluate your oral health. If you are a good candidate for dental implants, we will move forward in creating your new tooth or teeth.

The entire process is usually less than six months. We start by using advanced imaging to determine the best placement for your implant before your surgery. You will be scheduled for surgery to insert the titanium posts into your jaw. Once the post is in place, it will need to heal before your permanent tooth can be added to the implant. In most cases, we can begin adding the abutment and dental crown between three and six months after surgery.

Bone loss and growth are considerations when considering dental implants. Those with significant bone loss may require a bone graft to receive an implant. For children who are still in the growth period, implants are not usually recommended. However, there are special circumstances when implants can be an option for younger patients.
