School Dental Considerations For Your Little Ones

Portrait of female high school student

Can you believe school is just around the corner here in Texas? It seems like we blinked and summer is almost over already. School buses will be out soon transporting our precious cargo to and from school. If you’re curious to know when school starts and other school-related information in Lukfin, you can check out the information here.

As you’re at the store doing all of your back to school shopping you’ll also want to consider purchasing needed dental items for your students-to-be.

Potential Dental Items For Your Students

  • If your child wears any type of oral appliance such as a mouth guard, retainer or Invisalign, ensure he has a suitable case to place it in while eating. Help your child form habits for proper placement of these appliances so they won’t get lost, thrown away or misplaced.
  • Why not take this time to ensure that your child has enough floss. Flossing should happen one time per day.
  • Do a toothbrush check-in with each of your children. If it is showing wear, take this opportunity to purchase a new toothbrush. Soft bristle brushes are best. As a general rule, you can purchase a new toothbrush every three months. This ensures that it is functioning at its optimal capacity.
  • If your child has a nervous habit of chewing a pencil, you may need to find a replacement behavior or chewable item that will not damage teeth.

At Lufkin Family Dental, we are happy to help you with all of your back to school dental needs and questions. Book your appointment with us today!
